What makes a dedicated team actually work
Location is the least important variable. Overlap hours, technical leadership and documentation decide the outcome.

Distributed teams fail in predictable ways: decisions made overnight without a note, engineers who complete tickets without understanding the business, and nobody senior enough to say no. Each has a fix.
Overlap hours are non-negotiable
India overlaps with Europe and the Middle East for most of the day and with the US East Coast for its morning. Agree the overlap window, run stand-ups inside it, and write down everything decided outside it.
A tech lead on every team
Someone who reads the business context, pushes back on a bad ticket and documents the architecture. Without that role a team becomes an order-taker.
Documentation as work, not afterthought
Decision records, runbooks and onboarding docs maintained inside the sprint. It is the difference between a team you depend on and a team you can scale.
